- Day 9 (Thu) – Onto Lake Toya (via Yoichi, Kutchan and Rusustu)We arose this morning at 6am to decommission the Otaru house and commence our multi-leg train journey across the snow-laiden hills to Lake Toya on the south side of Hokkaido

- Day 1 (Wed) – Fly outToday kicked off the journey. Our flight was scheduled to fly out at 15:35 Melbourne time, so we arrived head off to the airport around lunchtime and arrived around 1pm, bracing for whatever the check-in process would throw into the mix for this rag-tag group.
